Over the hill top drop
An expanse of blue sky
Stretches out before your eye
Silky, milky clouds pass leisurely on by
And then the smooth sandy coastline
That only money can buy

The pace is slow
There is no further to go
But the cars are fast
With trophy curves
Sleek and chic, purring past

*
Passing architecture
With arty pretensions
Futuristic dimensions
Grossly extravagant
Or glossy and elegant ?

*
Hidden gardens
Hide behind palm trees
Their over the top leafy tops
Flopping about in the sea’s breeze

*
High-tech tall walls
With secret security alarm calls
Hide multi-million pound piles
From the horde of tourists
On board the tourist bus
That has come from miles

*
The golden, honey-combed
Sandy banks of Sandbanks
Are neatly combed and safe to roam

*
Old Harry’s Rocks glisten
Glimmer and shimmer
In the distance like sugar cubes

*
Also, sharing the harbour sea
Are sun-seekers lounging on yachts, carefree
And cruise liners with diners
Peeking out through round windows to see
Playboys pounding and splashing about
Making a noise with their jet-ski toys

Or else, sitting on the terraces, having fun
Under umbrellas, respite from the sun

‘THE ECONOMY IS CRASHING'
- the headlines from broadsheet papers run
Shhhh !!!
Put the papers away -
- it’s such a fine, fine day today

Drinking chilled jug-filled pimms
With mint leaves and cucumber dices
Lemon and lime slim slices
Or champagne in ice buckets
To keep the temperature the same
As cold as when it first came

*
Or pouring glasses of fine wine or pink rose
And posing in pink tinted sunglasses
Making the sea views all rosy

*
Chit chatting about holidays, property prices
Where to go to relax
That is just as sunny as it is today
And how to hide money away
Inside the different equations for tax evasion
And the best tax havens

The setting sun no longer enraptures or amazes
As the palette of turquoise and azure blues
Changes into firey opalescent blazing hues
Sinking into Brownsea Island still in view

*
Rockets burst into electrifying crowns
Pounding high into the sky
Then parachuting down
Glittering
Littering
Softly, costly
Floating down
Illuminating Millionaire’s Row
And the speckles of boat lights that glow
In this regular weekend fireworks show

Diamonds drop themselves
Into the starry night sky
And you can almost touch them
They are so close by…
